*black sheep 黑绵羊 在英文俚语中，是指败家子、家里最不成材的孩子或害群之马。
这首带有励志色彩的歌曲，原作者是法国的民歌手杰克斯布瑞尔（Jacques Brel），经由也是歌手的美国朋友洛德麦昆（Rod MaKuen）翻成英文，才流传到美国。这首曲子原名" Le moribond "，意思是「临终的人」。一九六一年，杰克斯布瑞尔发现自己罹患了癌症，因而写下这首歌，献给他的父亲、挚友和妻子。
